Daycare FAQ's

below are some of our most asked questions. if you have a question which isn't answered, just contact us and we can help.

Dogs need enrichment and socialisation. This is common knowledge. However we also all lead very busy lives and need to work to support our furry family members. Hours alone can lead to boredom which can mean chewed shoes, barking, toileting inside, anxious dogs and more. Bringing doggo to daycare can help mitigate these issues. This is because doggo gets a full day of fun and enrichment which helps to improve social skills, behaviour and works out the energy puppies ALWAYS seem to have so you can have calm cuddles at night with your fur-baby.

We require puppies to be 10-12 weeks when they start coming to daycare.

We require puppies to have their 2nd vaccination. This is due to the fact that the risk of contracting anything after vaccination #2 is extremely rare considering all other dogs at the daycare are fully vaccinated.

Male puppies do not need to be desexed if younger than 9 months (we assess this on a case by case basis, and with managements discretion, they can attend up to 12 months). Female puppies do not need to be desexed if younger than 12 months. We know that many dog-owners these days like to wait to desex so that the puppy can reach their full growth potential.

We often get asked if we can or can’t accept certain breeds of dogs. Short answer is that we do not discriminate by breed and all dogs are welcome at Playful Paws. This is why we require a Trial Day so that we can fully assess if your doggo’s behaviour is suitable to daycare.

We think Indie may have some choice barks if we chose not to accept big dogs or Staffys.

Of course! We welcome all dog-owners to come and say hi before booking in with us. We do ask that you contact us prior to book in a time so that we can ensure plenty of time to give you a tour and answer any questions you may have. We try to perform tours in the mornings where possible to avoid disturbing the dogs.

There are a couple of options to make a booking. It can be completed online through our website, in person at our centre, or over the phone.

Of course! Please bring along their food or medication clearly labelled with instructions and we can give this to them for $5 per dog, per day.

Each play group is always supervised, therefore staff know what behaviours to look out for. If we feel a dog needs to have some time out, they will be moved to our quiet, crate room where they can relax before being reintroduced into the group.

No! Dog’s learn by association, therefore they will associate daycare with being allowed and able to go to the toilet inside on our amazing purple flooring. They have a different association with home and where they are allowed to toilet there. If we notice your doggo isn’t going happily inside, we can and do take them for a short walk so they can go on grass.

If we notice anything that needs veterinary attention, we try all means to contact you first to see how you wish to proceed. If you are happy for us to take them to our nominated vet (Fortitude Valley Vet) we will. Alternatively, we can take them to your vet of choice or emergency if both are not open.

All dogs are supervised by our amazing team of dog-lovers throughout the whole day.

We have multiple options to make a payment. You can add your credit card to your online profile or pay via eftpos or cash upon pickup. We accept Mastercard, Visa and Amex.

Training FAQ's

Dog training does more than teach dogs to sit and stay. Training helps provide structure and boundaries for young (or old) dogs while also creating a stronger bond with the owner. This is achieved through time, consistency and dedication in a fun and supportive environment.

Dogs are never too young or old to begin training. We can adjust each training lesson to suit the age and ability of your dog.

Please bring your dog on a collar and lead, poo bags, and some yummy training treats such as cheese or boiled chicken.

Please contact us via phone or email and we can organise a suitable day and time to book you in.

Each dog learns differently and will show results at all different rates. As long as you follow the training plan and be consistent you will see results, regardless of how young they may be.

This is dependant on the desired outcome form the training. We tailor each and every lesson to what is needed for the owner and dog. Feel free to contact us for more information.
